  1. Check the spelling of the command-line parameter - it should be "/scripted" (from "script"). Also check the file "tniaudit.ini", what is the value of "scandelay" parameter? Set it to zero for testing. Does it happen on all computers or some specific ones?
  2. Hello Marke, Please be informed that antiviruses are not detected under Windows Server systems at the current moment. Please consult our FAQ (link) for more details.
  3. Unfortunately it was designed to keep all files in one folder and name them only by the computer name, because it's not possible (or at least no sense) to have computers with the same name on the same subnet. So the result is overwriting the files. The only possible way to workaround this at the moment is keeping the scan results from different networks in different data folders and switching between them as necessary. The next version will be free of this issue, as it will keep the files in different folders and file names will include MAC address. It is strange, because it works (or worked) fine on all copies of Windows 7 available to us - betas, RC1 and RTM (Business and Ultimate).
  4. Hello, We would need to have an uninstallation record for this program from the system registry exported and send to us for analysis. We have replied to you by email.
  5. Unfortunately it took us much longer than expected. However 1.7.0 is now in active development. ETA is about 2-3 months.
  6. No, unfortunately it is not possible in the current version. We look forward to implement such possibility in the near future.
  7. It means that those systems don't implement necessary WMI namespaces (fully or partially) and this doesn't allow the program to scan them.
  8. Windows XP Embedded should be possible to scan if it doesn't work in terminal client mode. There may be some remote access security issues, same with Windows XP Professional. First I would suggest to try to change the connection method (go to "Options - Connection", set "Connection method" to "Auto-deployed agent" and uncheck the option "Try another method"), then try to scan again. This method should give more understandable error messages, if any. Also please check out our FAQ for common issues with remote access: https://docs.softinventive.com/tni/faq/
  9. But from your last post I understand that we are actually talking about the first scenario (approximately), but with a little bit of misunderstanding. "tni.exe" does not run on user machines at all, it is the main administrator module (console). It is "tniaudit.exe" that runs on client machines as audit agent after authenticating to the domain. That's why I was confused a little by your first message. If it is still in memory after a whole day, it means that either it is stucked with scan (very unlikely), or something is wrong with settings. First of all, please check that you are using the latest "tniaudit.exe" in the shared folder for the user computers (should be version 1.6.7.2750). If not, install the latest version from the web-site and update this module manually. Then, check the file "tniaudit.ini" that should reside in the same shared folder. Pay attention to the parameter "scandelay". It should be either zero, or something around 180-300 (number of seconds to wait before starting the actual scan, in order to allow other autorun applications to start without interference). If that doesn't help, run the "tniaudit.exe" with parameter "/scripted" manually on some of the computers (with "scandelay=0" in the INI file) and see whether it starts the scan (it should utilize some CPU resources) and whether it disappears from the process list in some time. Logon script scan doesn't use any services at all. "tniaudit.exe" is a simple application, not service, that is launched during the logon process. Really, when it finishes the scan and saves the information it should stop and exit.
  10. Hello, Do you talk about logon script scan (user machine is rebooted right after logon while "tniaudit.exe" is running) or do you talk about remote online scan (user machine is rebooted while being scanned remotely)? Please clarify.
  11. No, the order doesn't matter. Make sure that "tniaudit.ini" is in the same directory as "tniaudit.exe", and that "tniaudit.exe" has the version 1.6.7.2750, otherwise update it.
  12. It must work. I've just set scandelay to 300, ran "tniaudit.exe /scripted" and the file appeared in exactly 5 minutes (with the scan time about 9 seconds). The file "tniaudit.ini" must be present in the same directory as the exe file, and should start as follows: [TNIAUDIT] compressscandata=0 scandelay=300 ... (etc) If the ini file may be corrupted, you can delete it and regenerate it by running tniaudit.exe without parameters (like to scan the local PC). Then just change the "scandelay" and "savepath" parameters appropriately.
  13. Mike, We have foreseen such situations and implemented the delay before actual scan start. When you export the audit tool, you have access to options window, and there is a setting (on the "Audit agent" page) to set such delay. It is 180 sec (3 min) by default. If you already have the script deployed and running, just edit the file "tniaudit.ini" and set "scandelay" parameter to some desired value (in seconds), for example "scandelay=600" for 10 minutes.
  14. Yes, you just need to press "Enter" or "Space" button on your keyboard (which actually presses "OK" button in this dialog). "Escape" button works also. By the way, be sure that this clumsy way of output will be replaced with a normal tabular report in the next version of the program.
  15. Hi Dan, You should use our custom tabular report feature. Go to "Options - Tab report", add the fields that you want to see, press "OK" and run this report via main menu "Reports - Custom reports".
  16. Steve, Thanks for your question. Unfortunately it is not possible now. But we will try to implement such type of report in the following updates, as soon as possible.
  17. Our apologies for the inconvenience, but that's probably a coincidence which has nothing to do with the program. TNI doesn't touch any services except its own. The service that it installs for the scan and uninstalls after the scan is named "TNIHelperService" (display name "Total Network Inventory Helper Service"). It also makes use of the following services: Server, Windows Management Instrumentation, Remote Procedure Call, Remote Registry, but in any way it doesn't try to change their state. P.S. You have provided some information about the service in question, but have not included its name...
  18. Jason, Please clarify a bit: if you install the latest version (2750) to an empty folder, and upon running it asks for the location of data folder, and you select your previous data folder where all XML files are, does the error appear again? Does it appear also if you install the version 2680 to an empty folder and select the same data folder? Unfortunately we could not recreate the problem. Could you please send us your data folder for analysis? Please compress it with maximum compression with some archiver and send to "support@softinventive.com".
  19. By default, no files are kept on workstations at all since version 1.5.38.5 (December 2007). They are kept there only if you have explicitly enabled the option "Keep deployed files for future use" in "Options - Connection". In this case, set the following options: - Connection - Use auto-deployed agent (SMB) - select - Connection - Try another method if selected fails - uncheck (disable) - Inventory - Deselect all scan categories Then run a scan on all computers. Nothing will be actually scaned, and the files will be removed (if any exist).
  20. Sorry, I'm confused. Can you please put it simpler? TNI doesn't analyze this value, but probably the installer puts them to the DisplayName. I will look at the registry export files that you've sent. The 64-bit software issue was fixed in the next version after 2580. The latest version now is 1.6.7 (build 2680). Please update your installation. Exactly what I meant. Let me check the files, perhaps the issue could be pinpointed.
  21. Exchange: TNI is showing the software product installation exactly as it is provided in the Uninstall section of the registry. If the product installer package provide a possibility to install a product partially (only some components) and does not reflect that in the product display name, TNI cannot differentiate between such installations. It currently doesn't support scanning of MS Installer database for such situations. SQL: As for the 64-bit versions, make sure that you have the latest version of TNI ("Help - Check for new version"). Recently we have fixed an issue when 64-bit software was not collected on 64-bit XP and 2003 Server systems (though Vista and 2008 Server worked). We have received an email from you with more details so let's continue there.
  22. What error do you get? What program crashes - Total Network Inventory or MS Outlook? If the latter, this is not the right place to ask.
  23. Try to change the connection method temporarily: go to "File - Options - Connection", change "Connection method" (for example, if "Auto-deployed agent" is selected, then select "Agent free connection" and vice versa), and uncheck (disable) the option "Try another method". Press "OK" and scan this computer again.
  24. Unfortunately there is no way to do this in the current version of the program. We are planning to add such possibilities in one of the future versions.
  25. We have sent you an email, please check your inbox on hotmail.
