Hemo2
Just wanted to check before I did this. With the latest TNI update, the 'Reset Serial Number' option was added under the Edit - Properties - Reset Properties. When you do this, does it wipe out the serial number or does it simply go through all the snapshots and set things so your reports, etc. use the serial number from the 'newest' snapshot? And sorry to keep asking, but the latest update did not have anything in it to address the duplicate records being created due the filenames using MAC addresses? Quote Link to comment
Support
Just wanted to check before I did this. With the latest TNI update, the 'Reset Serial Number' option was added under the Edit - Properties - Reset Properties. When you do this, does it wipe out the serial number or does it simply go through all the snapshots and set things so your reports, etc. use the serial number from the 'newest' snapshot? It goes through all assets, sets the asset serial number to the correct value retrieved from the latest snapshot using updated algorithm (to address the issue with Lenovo and some other systems which have serial number in BIOS information only, and not in Chassis information) and also clears the junk values such as "System Serial Number", "To Be Filled By O.E.M", "SYS-1234567890", etc. This affects the serial numbers that you see in the network tree (tree display options - additional field), and in the table reports (asset fields). And sorry to keep asking, but the latest update did not have anything in it to address the duplicate records being created due the filenames using MAC addresses? Unfortunately not yet, but we are going to return to this issue in the nearest days. Quote Link to comment
