mswann Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Hello, On a recent scan I find that tni is not able to read the Win7 OS license key. It is reporting an encrypted license key. Is there a way around this issue? Please help. Thanks, Marianne Quote

Support Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Microsoft has changed the way the license keys are stored in the registry for some systems starting with Vista, depending on the type of license key and activation. This problem happens only with Windows Vista and 7 systems which are activated using Multiple Activation Keys (MAK), previously named Volume License Keys (VLK), either through a local Key Management Server (KMS), or directly in communication with Microsoft. Currently we have no solution to this issue. You can try to use Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic tool to extract the license key for the systems affected by this issue. Quote

Thanks for that information. I downloaded and ran the Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool without success. The tool provides the OS name and what type of license it is but provides only the last 5 digits of the license key. The balance of the license key is starred out. Any chance of getting an upgrade in TNI to resolve this issue? Thanks, Marianne Swann Quote
Support Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 As I have mentioned, currently we don't have a solution to this issue. We are working on this. As soon as a solution is found, an update will be released and this topic will be updated. Quote
